KUALA TERENGGANU
"A Waterfront City"
Kuala Terengganu is located along the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia. To the north lies the Kelantan state, and bordering the state of Pahang to the south. Terengganu covers a land area of 12,995 square kilometer and comprises seven districts: Besut, Setiu, Kuala Terengganu, Hulu Terengganu, Marang, Dungun, and Kemaman. Terengganu boasts a fine tropical climate, typically do not fluctuate that much across the year. The maximum range between 28°C and 32°C while the minimum range between 22°C and 25°C. November to February are the wetter months where rain is almost continuous, with average precipitation of over 500 mm a month. The best season to visit is during the dry season (March to October) which offers beautiful weather with sunshine and clear skies at most times.

SETIU WETLANDS
"The Hidden Gem"
The Setiu Wetlands, part of the Setiu River Basin and the larger Setiu-Chalok-Bari-Merang basin wetland complex lies in Terengganu on Peninsular Malaysia’s east coast. Extending 23,000ha, it comprises riparian forests lining the riverbanks, freshwater melaleuca swamps, peat swamps, mangroves, brackish water lagoon with vegetated sand islands, seagrass beds and sandy beaches. The sandy beaches, sand islands and riverbanks are nesting grounds for Malaysia’s largest breeding population of painted terrapin (Callagur borneonsis) and are amongst the few remaining mainland nesting sites for the green turtle (Chelonia mydas). Both the painted terrapin and green turtle are endangered species.

KENYIR LAKE
"The Untouched Beauty"
Kenyir Lake is the biggest lake of Malaysia and this popular attraction is located within the state of Terengganu. Among people that visit the beautiful lake are local anglers, golfers and companies that organize their teambuilding activities. Lake Kenyir is the biggest manufactured (man-made) lake in Southeast Asia. The freshwater lake was constructed between 1978 and 1985 to provide for a dam to generate electricity and to bring a halt to the yearly flooding. Kenyir borders the popular National Park Taman Negara; you can travel from Kenyir to Taman Negara (vice versa), but this is no easy trip as it takes several days and can only be done with an experienced guide. Kenyir area is over 200,000 hectares in size. Within the area, you can find around 340 small – mainly uninhabited – islands; many waterfalls and caves. There is also and abundance of wildlife to be found in the Kenyir Area.
